AQUALON FABRIC
Aqualon fabric is a quality product that can give years of enjoyable use. Aqualon is a water-repellent, mildew resistant two- ply polyester duck fabric with pigmented vinyl resin top coating. Proper maintenance is important if maximum life of the end product is desired. Routine care is quite simple, but certain procedures are recommended:
CARE AND CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
- Keep dirt, leaves and other debris from accumulating on the fabric surface. Washing down with a garden hose on a bright sunny day is recommended about once a month.
- To remove dirt from either side of the material, use a soft brush and mild soap solution (such as Ivory). Do not use bleach. Rinse thoroughly with clear water and let dry completely before storing or rolling. (If accidental tears occur, repair them as soon as possible).
- DO NOT store or roll up while wet. Be sure to clean and dry before storage. Mildew can grow during storage if moisture is present.
- Avoid cleaning in commercial car wash or washing machine. DO NOT steam or pressure wash. Keep cover secure over boat while trailoring.
SUNBRELLA FABRIC
Sunbrella fabric is made from 100 percent solution-dyed acrylic fibers, which gives it color brightness, which is unsurpassed. As a woven product, Sunbrella fabrics dry quickly and because they are made from solution-dyed fabrics, the color is locked deep inside the fabric, offering excellent fade resistance and the ability to withstand harsh cleanings with water and bleach mixtures. Sunbrella being a woven fabric can breathe and is translucent.
CARE AND CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS:
- Keep dirt, leaves and other debris from accumulating on the fabric surface. Must keep propped up. Washing down with a garden hose on a bright sunny day is recommended about once a month.
- Because Sunbrella fabrics are made from acrylic yarns, they will not support the growth of mildew, but if dirt is allowed to remain on fabric for any length of time, the dirt will support mildew growth.
- To remove dirt or other debris, use a mixture of warm and natural soap. If heavy stain removal is required, use a mixture of no more than four-ounces of chlorine bleach, two ounces of natural soap and one gallon of water. Rinse out thoroughly with clean water. (Chlorine bleach is required for mildew removal because mildew is a living organism, similar to algae, which must be killed in order to restore the fabric and to assure that the mildew does not rapidly reappear).
- When aggressive cleaning or stain removal has been done, the fabric should be treated with ApSeal, which restores Sunbrella fabric's water resistant characteristics to a near-new condition.
- Sunbrella may be dry cleaned, but once again it will need to be treated with ApSeal afterwards to reestablish water repellence.
- When washing or cleaning, DO NOT subject to excessive heat, steam press or dry in electric or gas dryers, but allow to air dry.
VINYL FABRIC
CARE AND CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
- For general purpose cleaning, use warm water with a mild soap such as Dawn, Fantastik or Vinyl Finish vinyl cleaner. Gently scrub with a small brush.
- For dirt build-up, use Final Finish vinyl cleaner, let soak for approximately 10 minutes, then gently scrub with a soft bristle brush.
- DO NOT use kerosene, gasoline or acetone, they will remove the protective Marine topcoat.
- DO NOT use any silicone- based protectants, they will extract the plasticizers, leaving the vinyl hard and brittle, and eventually cracking will occur.
OK for cleaning Vinyl: Vinyl Finish Vinyl Cleaner, dish soap (Dawn, Ivory), Fantastic, 303 Protectant
